Details:
It was the perfect post-rainy day at one of Vancouver’s most popular restaurants and highly recommended venue for many wedding planners. Bright and early, myself and the decorator arrived early to set up the space for our Spring photoshoot. Having done many weddings at this Vancouver venue as both wedding planner and wedding coordinator, I was familiar with the space and the staff had allowed me to utilize it in any way I wanted! We moved the tables around to make space for the pipe and drape and arranged it in a way where the natural sunlight could flow in nicely. You can see the amazing backdrop of Vancouver and all the natural beauty around it from this angle.
Inspiration
One of my favourite Disney Princesses growing up was Mulan. When I was younger, I wanted a garden like the one on her family residence in China – gentle yet colourful, lush, and full of life. At the time of this shoot, the Mulan Movie had just been released and it reminded me of the Disney classic. As much as I had wanted to do a fierce shoot I felt it was best to start off with what I loved seeing as a child and then doing a second shoot which would focus more on the adventurous side of the story.
The Experience
I would have to say this was my first official wedding photoshoot. I was a little too excited taking on this project at the time as during the months leading up to the shoot, I was in the middle of changing jobs, planning weddings and events, doing home renos, travelling for work in and out of Vancouver, and a whole array of other things that kept me occupied. However, I was glad I did otherwise I’d never be able to plan this beautiful production and gain more experience in wedding shoots!
A few things I learned from this wedding photoshoot:
Thank you to everyone who helped put this wedding photoshoot together. None of this would have happened without you.

Leslie was organized, efficient, worked with what we wanted, easy to communicate with, and so lovely to work with. I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to plan our wedding! She is super knowledgeable about all of the best deals and vendors in the area and was able to create our dream vision with our budget. She took a lot of things off our plate with handling the vendors and everything on the special day making it stress free. On top of taking on all of these responsibilities, she was always so quick to respond. Leslie is the best and we will miss working with her!
